Dr. Chan is a highly-experienced joint replacement surgeon, and he is now working as Division Chief in the Division of Joint Replacement Surgery, and Clinical Assistant Professor in the University of Hong Kong. He had overseas training in distinguished joint replacement centers in Europe & Australia, and acquired the surgical skills and techniques. He is experienced in managing difficult and challenging cases referred from other hospitals. He has been elected as the President of the Adult Joint Reconstruction Chapter in the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association (HKOA) in 2021, and he was also invited to join AO Recon since 2018, as Faculty Member. He is also experienced in robotic-arm assisted arthroplasty surgery, which was showed to improve surgical accuracy and patient-reported outcomes.
Dr. Chan is also well-known in the areas of non-surgical management of knee osteoarthritis and ERAS (Enhanced Recovery after Surgery). He led the multi-disciplinary team, consisting of anaesthesiologist, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and nurses, in overseas training in world-renowned osteoarthritic and fast-track joint replacement centers in Europe in 2015. After the training, evidenced based non-surgical management programme of knee osteoarthritis, and fast-track joint replacement programme were commenced in the MacLehose Medical Rehabilitation Centre and the Queen Mary Hospital respectively with success, and their team is the pioneer in setting up these clinical services in Hong Kong. Being an active member of ERAS Society and OARSI (Osteoarthritis Research Society International), Dr Chan and his team are also active in promulgating these concepts in Hong Kong and other countries. With their promulgation through invited talks and workshops, various hospitals have begun to run similar programmes.
Dr. Chan is also an active clinician-researcher. He got important research awards, including Dr David Fang Trophy (2019) for the Best Paper in Adult Joint Reconstruction, and the Best Oral Presentation Awards in the Anniversary Congress of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (2018), Hospital Authority Convention (2018), and the HKOA Annual Congress (2013 & 2015). He published in more than 30 peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Arthroplasty (IF: 3.709), and Nature Reviews Rheumatology (IF :16.625). He has secured several research grant and donation in the development of osteoarthritis-related clinical service and research.

In 2008, he then earned a Diploma in Family Medicine by Monash University, achieving the Advanced in Internal Medicine by the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the same year. Kenji Kawate graduated from School of Medicine, Showa University, Japan in 1983 and earned his Doctor's degree of Medical Science in 1992 with the thesis of "Assessment of limp in patients with coxarthrosis - Three dimensional measurement of the pelvic rotation". The following year he went abroad to study as a research fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts, U.S.A. With such substantial academic backgrounds, he joined as the member of the Japanese Society of Rheumatism and Joint Surgery in 1998. Year after he participated in the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty and became an ORS member in 2011.
In 1998, he won awards such as the Saichi Nakajima award, Nara Medical University and also the 2005 Member of the Implant Committee from the Japanese Orthopaedic Association and finally the Japanese Hip Society Best Award in 2004. Some of his most recent papers include "Modifying oxygen tension affects bone marrow stromal cell osteogenesis for regenerative medicine" in the 9th edition of World J Stem Cells and "Bone regeneration with osteogenic matrix cell sheet and tricalcium phosphate: An experimental study in sheep" in the eight edition of World J Stem Cells. Also, he wrote "Supplying osteogenesis to dead bone using an osteogenic matrix cell sheet" from the J Orthop Science 23th edition. Besides these, he published more than over 150 papers related to his professional area.

Akihiro Sudo graduated from the Mie University School of Medicine in 1983. He became an assistant professor in his alma mater in 1990. In the same year he got certified as the Orthopaedic Surgeon approved by Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA). During the following two years of 1991 and 1992, he also became certified as the Rheumatologist and the Sports Doctor approved by JOA. He took charge as the dean of the Mie University School of Medicine in 2020 after successively becoming the associate professor, chairman throughout the years of 2006 until 2020.
He was also a member of different associations related to the area of Bone and Cartilage such as Japanese Society for Replacement Arthroplasty, Japanese Society for Joint Diseases, Japanese Society for Study of Bone and more. Dr. Masri graduated from the University of British Columbia with honors with a B.Sc. in Chemistry in 1985. Prior to graduating from the Department of Chemistry, he started his medical training at UBC in the fall of 1984. He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree in June 1988.
He started as a Clinical Instructor at the University of British Columbia and as a hip and knee reconstruction surgeon at VGH as well as a musculoskeletal oncologist at both VGH and the BC Cancer Agency. He then progressed through the ranks and became Head of the Division of Reconstructive Orthopaedics at VGH and UBC Hospitals, and Head of the Division of Lower Limb Reconstruction and Oncology at UBC. His current academic rank is that of Full Professor at UBC. He was the Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of British Columbia until Dec 31, 2021, when he stepped down having served for almost 14 years in that capacity. He continues to the Head of the Department of Orthopaedics and Vancouver General Hospital and UBC Hospital. Dr. Masri served as Surgeon-in-Chief of VGH and UBC Hospitals from 2011 until 2018. He also founded the UBC Centre for Surgical Innovation in 2006 and was its Head until it was absorbed as a part of UBC Hospital in 2017. He also served as the Regional Medical Director for Surgical Services for The Vancouver Coastal Health Authority from 2015-2018. He served as President of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association 2014-2015 as well.
He is a member of a number of prestigious scholarly societies (by invitation only) including the Hip Society, the Knee Society and the International Hip Society. In November 2017, Dr. Masri was the recipient of the Pier Giorgio Marchetti, M.D. Lifetime Achievement Award by an International Alumnus from the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

Dr. Kendler graduated from the MD program at the University of Toronto in 1977. After completing a rotating internship in Toronto, he practiced for several years in Canada, Botswana, and New Zealand. He returned to Internal Medicine training in 1983 in Christchurch, New Zealand and in 1984 joined the Internal Medicine program in Halifax, Canada. In 1985 he moved to Vancouver to complete Internal Medicine and Endocrinology training at the University of British Columbia. After a 2-year Thyroid Immunology Fellowship in New York, he returned to the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine where he is now a Professor of Medicine in Endocrinology. He is the director of Prohealth Clinical Research, a major North American centre for clinical trials in the area of Osteoporosis. He serves on the Scientific Advisory Council of Osteoporosis Canada and Chairs the Western Osteoporosis Alliance. He is a Past-President of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. He is a member of the Committee of Scientific Advisors of the International Osteoporosis Foundation and is co-Chair of the Western Osteoporosis Alliance. He has been awarded the John Bilezekian ISCD Global Leadership Award and the IOF President’s award. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Menopause Society.
